Wellbeing is Natural
Valley, national organizations collaborate to launch program to aid those who sacrificed for our country.
(Tempe, Ariz. – Sept. 16, 2014) – A valley and national organization have come together to launch a veteran wellbeing pilot program for severely wounded combat veterans. Tempe-based Wellbeing is Natural, Inc. and R4 Alliance are scheduled to launch the pilot WIN-V this Fall.
“WIN-V is a truly unique 10-week experience designed to be impactful and transformative for our struggling heroes. WIN-V empowers them to learn and practice new perspectives for civilian life and develop social skills necessary to realize a life of wellbeing, control, joy and self-management,” explained Andrew Miller PhD, founder of Wellbeing is Natural.
Scheduled to launch in October of this year, the program is modeled after Wellbeing is Natural’s WIN-10 program. WIN-10 demonstrated very positive outcomes for the participants throughout medical trials including, increased happiness and a drop in healthcare utilization of 40 percent. The WIN-V program offers these veterans an alternative to excessive medication and treatments, unnecessary office visits, loneliness and expensive therapy.
Dr. Miller explained that regardless of their individual and unique physical status, the veteran participants will learn through this program to regulate their behavior, use self-relaxation tools, find new meaning in relationships, address PTSD symptoms, and reconnect to life on their terms.
William Potter, Chairman of the Board for R4 Alliance states, “R4 is dedicated to bringing together community and therapeutic recreational services, and the newest research effort, to maximize the rehabilitation and reintegration of our military family. In bringing together Wellbeing is Natural’s program, access to wounded combat veterans and their families, and R4’s commitment we’re looking to employ more holistic approaches to our military family’s healing experience and wellbeing.”
“As a wounded combat medic, I can honestly say that recovering from the effects of combat on your own is impossible.” explained Brian Mancini, founder of Honor House a valley organization dedicated to helping this generation’s combat wounded transition from the battlefield to the home front. “Significant, long-lasting transformation takes the support and interaction with veteran peers to solidify any substantial results. Given the pilot program’s focus in this area specifically, I expect WIN-V to be a great success for our valley’s veterans.
The WIN-V pilot program will be held at DeVry University Westgate campus this fall. As another contributing sponsor in this pilot, DeVry is providing classroom space for this very worthy cause.
